Our church was founded in 1986 with 9 families using a portable altar. In 1992, the church grew to 34 families and a church building was bought in Hamden. The Thrice-Blessed H.H. Pope Shenouda III Consecrated the altar, also in 1992.  The Late Fr. Ghabriel Abdelsayed would come and pray liturgies until his repose in 1993. Visiting priests, as well as appointed priests, served the church until 2000. In 2000, the church grew to 53 families and in the same year The Thrice-Blessed H.H. Pope Shenouda III ordained Fr. Abraham Azmy to be the first consecrated priest of the church. Since 2000 the church grew rapidly and in 2008 the Thrice-Blessed H.H. Pope Shenouda III ordained Fr. Andrew Awad as the second consecrated priest. Fr. Andrew now also serves St. Peter & Andrew in Stamford. In 2012, H.E. Metropolitan Pakomious, who was the Patriarchal Locum-Tenens from March 17, 2012 to November 18, 2012, ordained Fr. Isaac Salib as well as elevated Fr. Abraham Azmy to Hegumen. In August of 2012, H.G. Bishop David ordained Dr. Ibrahim Hefzallah as Archdeacon Mikhail Ibrahim.

Most recently H.H. Pope Tawadros II created a new diocese, the Diocese of New York & New England. H.H. appointed H.G. Bishop David as the Diocesan Bishop as H.G. was serving as a General Bishop and Patriarch Exarch for the Archdiocese in New Jersey.

Presently, there are about 312 families in addition to 40 Eritrean families. We pray that Christ may continue to bless our church through the intercessions of Virgin Mary and Archangel Michael and to keep the life and standing of our honored fathers H.H. Pope Tawadros II, H.G. Bishop David, and our beloved clergy.
